Call me crazy . . . but I love teaching missing addends! Algebra was always my favorite in high school and I get a cheap thrill out of solving for X! :) Anyway, my second graders aren't quite there yet so this is as close as it gets.
Check out these resources I found that are appropriate for elementary kiddos.
The first one is a Missing Addend worksheet generator. You have students solve for a letter OR a blank so you can differentiate. When I tell my kids that they solve for X in middle school they get really excited about solving for the missing numbers! The website is MathAids.com and they have lots of awesome math resources!
The second resource is a game I found on Mrs. McCumbee's Class blog. The game is called "Salute" and I will let her explain it here.
Also, check out the missing addends match game that I made and posted on my Teachers Pay Teachers Account! It has a space theme and the little aliens are just ADORABLE!
I am also linking up with Farley this week at Oh' Boy 4th Grade. Here is my currently:
(I am REALLY excited about this by the way because I just learned how to use Paint.Net to edit images!!!!)
